THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), in charge of law and order, has ordered an inquiry into the Onam celebrations and reel shoot by accused in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attack case outside the Museum police station. The ADGP has asked the Special Branch Assistant Commissioner to investigate whether there were any lapses on the part of police personnel in connection with the incident.
The Onam celebrations and reel shoot outside the Museum police station took place in the presence of former CPM councillor I.P. Binu, an accused in the case of assaulting ED officials. The accused were seen swinging on a swing arranged by police personnel outside the station and filming reels while wearing shirts of the same colour as those worn by the police personnel attending the celebration.
Meanwhile, police said Binu had not been invited to the Onam celebrations and had arrived at the station to sign in connection with the case. Following the controversy over the video, police removed the swing that had been placed outside the station. Against the backdrop of the incident, police have also initiated steps to approach the court seeking cancellation of Binu's bail.
