Woman dies, son critically injured in bike accident on way to matchmaking event

PALAKKAD: A woman died after the bike on which she was travelling collided with a car. The accident happened at Nattukal on the Kozhikode-Palakkad national highway. The dead is Maimuna (46) of Mannarkkad, who was riding pillion on her son’s bike. The two were on their way to a matchmaking event of her son Shareef (26). Shareef, who was riding the bike, is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna.


The incident happened Wednesday afternoon. The car which was behind tried to overtake the bike leading to the accident. Both Maimuna and Shareef were thrown onto the road and sustained serious injuries. They were immediately taken to the hospital, but Maimuna died Thursday noon.
