Woman who set herself on fire, dies in Kannur

KANNUR: A woman succumbed to burns after she attempted suicide by immolating herself using kerosene. She died while undergoing treatment. The incident happened at Taliparamba in Kannur. She has been identified as Praveena Mohan (31) of Padapengad. She was the mother of two children, aged eight and four. Her husband, who is in the military, is away from home. She had been living at her husband's house with her children.

She attempted suicide at her husband’s house on Monday night. She was first taken to Pariyaram Medical College, but was later shifted to a private hospital as the burns she sustained was serious. Her death was confirmed last night. The reason for her to take the extreme step is not known.
