KOCHI: A relative stepped forward levelling allegations against a judge following an accident in Cheranalloor in which a 56-year-old man was killed after being hit by a car driven by his 17-year-old son. The victim has been identified as Jayabalakrishnan (56) of Manjali.

Jayalakshmi, a relative of Jayabalakrishnan, revealed that the judge spoke to her in an extremely arrogant manner when she met him after the accident. She said that she would proceed with the case. The Mercedes-Benz involved in the accident was registered in the name of Rino Francis, a judge of Irinjalakuda court. The car rammed into the scooter from behind, causing the accident.

‘No one without a driving licence should be allowed to drive a vehicle. We will move forward with the case. I had said that I wanted to meet the boy’s parents. When I met them, I asked them whether they did not know that a vehicle should not be handed over to a 17-year-old.

The judge then said, ‘Don’t come to question me. You are not worthy of that.’ He spoke in a very arrogant manner. The boy tried to flee after the accident, but he could not.’
Meantime, the police have registered a case and begun a preliminary investigation into the accident. The police said the 17-year-old who was driving the car was subjected to a medical examination and the doctors had reported that he was not drunk.

Authorities also said that a blood sample had been collected to determine whether he had consumed any other intoxicating substances.

The accident happened early Sunday morning at around 3 am. Reports say that the 17-year-old had taken the vehicle out without the knowledge of his parents.

Jayabalakrishnan was running a roadside eatery near Chittoor. The accident happened when he was returning home after closing his shop.
