Popular Malayalam actress and television host Jewel Mary has firmly shut down viral social media rumours claiming she is critically ill and has lost her voice due to cancer. Clarifying the situation through a video posted on her Instagram account, the actress reassured well-wishers that she is in perfect health.
The controversy sparked after a few discussions with alarmist captions suggesting that Jewel Mary’s health had drastically deteriorated circulated online.
Addressing the fake news with her characteristic resilience, Jewel said:
"I am not dead, everyone. For the past two days, some people have been virtually 'killing' me—claiming I’ve lost my voice, am on my deathbed, and unable to move. They are practically printing the cards for my funeral rituals. But let me clear the air: I am not finished."
The actress explained that the rumours stemmed from a speech she gave at a public event, where she had openly discussed her 2023 battle with cancer. Online platforms allegedly took her past statements out of context to generate clickbait headlines.
"To the online media brothers who are getting ready to bury me: the tea for my funeral is not ready to be served yet," Jewel added. "I am very much alive and well right here. So, please drop that news now. A lot of people who love me have been panicking, calling, and checking up on me. Nothing has happened to me; I am incredibly happy. I hope you all stay happy too."
Jewel Mary, who successfully overcame cancer after her diagnosis in 2023, continues to be an active and beloved figure in the Malayalam entertainment industry.
