Popular Tamil film director SS Stanley passes away at 57

CHENNAI: Popular Tamil film director and actor SS Stanley passed away on Tuesday. He was 57. Stanley was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for several ailments. The funeral will be held in Chennai today.

S S Stanley was born in Munnar in 1967. After working as an assistant director for 12 years, he became an independent director in 2002. He debuted with 'April Madhathil' in 2002. His directorial oeuvre had four films, including the super hit ‘Mercury Pookal’.

Stanley was one of the most influential young directors in the Tamil industry during the early 2000s. He also acted in the film Sarkar' starring Vijay. His last film as an actor was 'Maharaja', released in 2024.
