THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Jagadish, who has been shining on the silver screen with his comic and character roles, is celebrating his 70th birthday today. 'If you look at the date, my birthday was on the 21st. If you look at the stars, Thiruvathira started yesterday evening. It will be active till today morning'. Jagadish's reply when he was wished for his birthday.
Jagadish is currently on location in Ettumanoor. He will visit the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple this morning. There is no celebration beyond that. The credit for making the audience laugh, including as a flirtatious college boy on the silver screen, while being a serious college teacher in life, goes to Jagadish alone.
Jagadish started his teaching career as a lecturer at MG College, Thiruvananthapuram after securing rank in M.Com. He entered the acting field with the film 'My Dear Kuttichathan' released in 1984. Jagadish got busy in films after the super hit 'In Harihar Nagar' was released in 1990. Then he took a long break from teaching. Jagadish made consecutive hits as a lead actor. He shone as a villain and a character actor.
Jagadish also wrote the screenplay for a few films including 'Adhipan'. In 2016, he contested as a Congress candidate from Pathanapuram in the assembly elections. Jagadish's wife was the late P. Rama, who was a forensic surgeon.
