BENGALURU: The family alleged mystery in Sreenanda’s death, claiming that it was not an accident. They alleged that although they demanded questioning of a local shopkeeper, the investigation team did not do so. She did not have a phone in her hand, so it is clear that she did not go there to take photos. They also said that she went missing within just five minutes.
Sreenanda was reported missing around 5:30 pm on Tuesday evening. Later, due to heavy mist and darkness in the area, it would have been difficult to trace even if someone had abducted her. The nearest CCTV camera is about 10 kilometres away from the place where she went missing. During the search conducted by the dog squad, the dog reached the vicinity of a nearby shop, raising suspicion about the shopkeeper. Still, the family said that the police were not willing to question him. The relatives also said that if a proper search was conducted on the very day she went missing, she could have been saved.
A four-member police team from Kerala reached Chikkamagaluru this morning. Her body was found 1500 feet below in the search conducted by them also. The body was found lying in a gorge that was not visible from outside.
Sreenanda is the daughter of Ramesh and Rohini of Kadampazhipuram in Palakkad. She had arrived in Chikkamagaluru as part of a 40-member group, including her parents, for a leisure trip. The family had earlier expressed suspicion that she might have been abducted.
