THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V. Sivankutty said that he will win Nemom by a margin of 5,000 votes. According to the LDF calculations, Sivankutty will get 55,588 votes. These are the solid votes of the LDF in the constituency.
Out of 1,71,178 votes, 1,39,103 votes were polled. The BJP-led NDA will get 52,982 votes, and the UDF will get 29,499 votes. Sometimes the Congress votes can go lower. All other candidates combined will get 1,075 votes. When elections were held in Nemom the last four times, Sivankutty emerged victorious twice. During that time, BJP had the same influence in the corporation. However, this time, NDA, with all eyes on a win, led a vigorous campaign and made no mistakes when it came to candidate selection.
“The BJP tried to fight democracy through money. Many felt I was already conceding defeat when I revealed that BJP gave alcohol and money to win votes. However, it is the truth.
A case was registered for the seizure of alcohol from Attukal. The BJP gave Rs 15,000 each to voters. Four boxes were taken from the RMS in a car. This is not good for democracy,” said Sivankutty.
