THRISSUR: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was bitten by a snake in Vaniyambara. Adam, son of Shyam Peter was bitten by the snake which was in the toilet. The child was immediately taken to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Meantime, an eight-year-old boy died after bitten by a snake which was under his pillow in Thrissur's Kodali last Sunday. His brother was also bitten and is in a critical condition. Aljo, youngest son of Kavungal Siljo and Johnsy from Kadampodu, died. Anoj (10), who is in a critical condition, underwent emergency surgery at the Angamaly Apollo Hospital. Aljo was bitten on his hand and Anoj's leg. A shankhuvarayan (common krait) was found under the pillow in the room where the children were sleeping. The children fell ill at 2 am on Sunday.

The previous day, they had attended a party near their home as part of a priest's jubilee celebration. Then, before returning home, they drank avocado juice. Following this, the parents initially thought it was food poisoning. Later, the children were given cumin water and put to sleep again. At 4 in the morning, Aljo foamed and was immediately admitted to the hospital in Kodali and then to a private hospital in Chalakudy. Examination revealed that he had been bitten by a snake. Signs of a snakebite were also found on his body. Aljo later died. Anoj was then shifted to the Apollo Hospital in Angamaly.
