THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V D Satheesan said he was happy that Kerala Kaumudi is preserving the legacy of editor K Sukumaran, whom he described as a veteran who ensured the paper publishes only 100 per cent honest news. The Chief Minister was inaugurating the 115th anniversary celebrations of Kerala Kaumudi.

“My desire to become a parliamentarian was sparked in my mind after reading the assembly report in Kerala Kaumudi. I won the first prize when I was studying in the fifth standard for an essay written after reading the Gurudarshan articles that appeared in Kerala Kaumudi. The first prize in my life.

The media should not play the role of clowns who sing praises of the government. News should become an inspiration for the rulers to correct their mistakes. Controversies are not a tool to increase ratings. I request that the mainstream media not go after things that are not in tandem with our culture.

We have been taking many credits for many years. In health and education, everything is being said about the Kerala model. But everything has remained stagnant for 25 years. We are yet to enter the new era. Media should create a positive atmosphere to bring about a change in this,’ said CM Satheesan,

The function held at the Thycaud Lemon Tree Premier was presided over by Kerala Kaumudi Chief Editor Deepu Ravi. Transport Minister C.P. John, V. Muraleedharan MLA and others extended their greetings.

Minister C.P. John said that Kerala Kaumudi is a newspaper that has absorbed all the spiritual aspects of the renaissance movement created by Guru Devan and speaks without any hesitation.

V. Muraleedharan said that Kerala Kaumudi is still led by someone who continues the tradition and social commitment started by C.V. Kunhiraman to bring oppressed communities into the mainstream. Kerala Kaumudi Chief News Editor V.S. Rajesh welcomed the gathering, and Chief Manager S. Vimalkumar expressed his gratitude.
