Rifa's body was not significantly rotten, did not see any injury marks at first glance, says Abdul Aziz who exhumed body

KOZHIKODE: Abdul Aziz, who exhumed vlogger Rifa Mehnu's body from the burial ground, said that the body did not get significantly rotten as it was well embalmed. Aziz said that he had readily agreed to exhume the body when the officials sought his help five days ago.

"The body had lost its water content and was seen in a wrinkled state. However, her face was recognizable," Aziz said. He also said that he did not see any injury marks at the first glance. Abdul Aziz, who has been assisting in the exhumation of bodies for the past 40 years, said it was the 3901st body he had exhumed. He is also a former panchayat member of Olavanna. Aziz does not charge any money for exhuming the bodies.

Rifa's body was exhumed from the burial ground of the Pavandur Juma Masjid at around 11 am on Saturday. The body was then shifted to the Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode for post-mortem. The body will be buried today itself, once the procedure is over.

Rifa Mehnu was found hanging in her flat in Dubai on March 1. Her family had alleged that her husband Mehnaz was behind her death. The family also complained that Mehnaz had abused Rifa mentally and physically. Police have registered a case against Mehnaz for mental and physical harassment and incitement to suicide.

The action is based on a complaint lodged by Rifa's family. Rifa's body had not been subjected to a post-mortem in Dubai. The relatives said that Rifa did not have any problems in order to commit suicide and demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
