Wealthiest MLA in India has assets worth Rs 1,413 cr, who is he?

BENGALURU: The Association for Democratic Reforms has released a report on the assets of MLAs in India. The richest MLA is Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. He has assets worth Rs 1,413 crore. MLA KH Puttaswamy Gowda from the same state also holds the second position. He has assets worth Rs 1,267 crore. The third position goes to Karnataka's Govindarajanagar MLA Priyakrishna with Rs 1,156 crore in assets. Among the top ten richest MLAs in the figures, four are from the Congress and three from the BJP. This has led to a big debate.

Meanwhile, the MLA with lowest net worth in India is BJP MLA from West Bengal, Nirmal Kumar Dhara. His total assets are worth Rs 1,700. Rayagada MLA Makaranda Muduli of Odisha is in the second position. His total assets are worth Rs.15,000. Punjab's Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna is in third place with assets worth Rs.18,370.

Of the 20 richest MLAs in the country, 12 are from Karnataka. 14 percent of them are billionaires and have assets of at least Rs 100 crore. Arunachal Pradesh is the second state with the highest number of wealthy MLAs. Four of the 59 MLAs are millionaires.
