KOTTAYAM: Jibin George, who was arrested in the case of beating police driver Shyam Prasad to death during a dispute that occurred in a roadside food stall, is a habitual offender. There are cases against him, including attempted murder, theft, and drug abuse.

After Plus Two, he went to Singapore for studies and work but was sent back home after causing problems there. After returning, he established ties with the drug mafia.

He also attacked his father, who was a retired employee of MG University. The reason was his displeasure with him for not receiving money for his drug use. He was kicked down during an argument and brutally beaten. Two years ago, during the Kumaranallur temple festival, he injured a temple official by hitting him on the head with a lamp.

Meanwhile, there is a strong allegation that police did not charge Jibin with KAAPA despite committing serious crimes. He was remanded in preventive detention on the eve of the New Year but was released the next day. There are also allegations that the police failed to monitor further movements of the accused. Despite being a key link in the drug mafia gang, they turned a blind eye.

Last rites for Shyam Prasad

The body of Shyam Prasad, which was kept for public viewing at the Kottayam Police Club and West Station, was paid last respects by his colleagues. Minister V.N. Vasavan, MLAs Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Mons Joseph, and District Police Chief Shahul Hameed also paid their last respects.

"A murder case will be filed against the accused. We will investigate whether KAAPA should have been filed." - Shahul Hameed, District Police Chief
