KOTTAYAM: In a shocking incident, the complainant in the controversial wife-swapping case was hacked to death by her husband. The 26-year-old woman, a native of Mannarkkad, was found lying in a pool of blood in front of her house. Although she was soon rushed to the Medical College Hospital, her life could not be saved. The woman's father told the police that her husband, the accused in the wife-swapping case, was behind the attack.

The woman's father and brother had gone to work at the time of the incident. Her daughter had gone out to play. Upon returning home, they saw the woman lying in a pool of blood.

The police had earlier arrested seven people, including the woman's husband, in the wife-swapping case on the complaint filed by the woman. Upon conducting an investigation on the complaint filed by the woman, the police found that a large group was involved in wife-swapping. It was found in the investigation that partners were exchanged through social media, including messenger and telegram, and sexually exploited. The gang members exchanged their wives through a group called Couple Meetup Kerala.

The woman was brutally sexually assaulted by nine people. The relatives alleged that her husband used to threaten the children when she opposed having sexual intercourse with other gang members. The woman's husband and others were arrested by the police in January 2022.
