THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Police Complaint Authority chairman V.M. Mohanan stated that strong actions will be taken if a complaint is received on the custodial death of Rajkumar, who had been in remand in a money cheating case. However, there are no complaints so far. The authority is not empowered to take the case on their own, he said.

He added that the police cannot beat or kill culprits.

“As per CRPC, police can use force only if the culprits resist arrest. Custodial torture and such forms of treatment are illegal. Strong awareness and actions should be taken to avoid such incidents from happening in the future. All police officials should follow the guidelines of SC regarding this matter”, he said.
