NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an ISIS terrorist from Delhi airport. Arafat Ali, who had been hiding for several years, was arrested when he reached Delhi from Nairobi. Ali, a native of Shimoga in Karnataka, had played a crucial role in recruiting Muslim youths for ISIS.
Ali, who had been absconding since 2020, is an accused in several terrorist attack cases, including the one in Shimoga. According to NIA, Ali used to plan terrorist activities from abroad. The NIA said that Ali, who had conspired to plant a pressure cooker bomb in the Kadri Manjunath temple in Mangalore, was involved in two terrorist attacks in Mangalore in 2020.
