Actor Mohanlal’s penchant for antiques is an open secret. The actor’s residence in Kochi houses an exquisite collection of sculptures and paintings, that are worldly beauties. And now, Mohanlal’s close friend Dr R Ramanand through his Facebook page has revealed the hidden story behind one peculiar sculpture in Mohanlal’s house.
This is a sculpture of Amriteshwar anointing himself with nectar using his four hands. A picture shared also shows Mohanlal and Ramanand standing next to this sculpture. Amriteshwar is a bespoke sculpture made of wood, as per suggestions from Mohanlal. The special wood that was selected to make this sculpture has now gone extinct in Kashmir.
It was Ramanand who first casually sent an image of Amriteshwar Bhairava to Mohanlal via phone. Never did anyone know that a plan was brewing inside the actor’s mind to make this image real. Mohanlal was awe-struck by the divinity and assigned a special team to carve out the sculpture from wood.
Later one day, Mohanlal texted Ramanand and coyly hinted about a surprise. The actor then sent an image to Ramanand who was numbed by what he saw — the wooden sculpture of Amriteshwar Bhairava. The wooden incarnation of the same image that was sent by Ramanand himself.
