THRISSUR: Minister for General Education V Sivankutty while speaking from the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ dais heaped praises on the revamped ‘elite level’ schools in Kerala.

According to the minister, people on the roadside are mistaking the schools for five-star hotels and are approaching the building for rooms, only to get embarrassed later knowing about their gaffe. He was speaking at Thrissur Navakerala Sadas. The Minister added that the highest number of students in the state are studying in the aided sector.

"The government treats the students studying in the aided sector and government sector as children of Kerala." He also clarified that efforts should not be made to bring it back to the unaided zone.

“Rs 5000 crore have been spent for revamping schools across Kerala. The outcomes have been brilliant that the senior citizens sitting here in the event may yearn for a return to school. Many people and travellers are mistaking the new schools for hotels and are approaching for rooms. I inaugurated a school in Wayanad last day. It was the same school where a child died due to a snake bite. The government gave Rs 5 crore to set the school on par with higher standards. It is also the first government school to have a lift” the minister said.
