Sabarimala ready to witness Makara Jyothi; 10 view points, flow of devotees to Sannidhanam

PATHANAMTHITTA: Lakhs of devotees are flocking to Sabarimala to see Ayyappaswamy wearing his Thiruvabharanam (sacred ornaments), and Makarajyoti, which shines at Ponnambalamedu on the dusk of Makarasamkrama. Thiruvabharan procession will reach Sannidhanam today at 6 o'clock. Then there will be Deeparadhana adoring the Thiruvabharanam on the Ayyappa idol. After that, the lamp will be lit at Ponnambalamedu.

Devotees are flocking in and around Sannidhanam to see Makarajyoti. For this, the devotees are staying in Sannidhanam without going down the hill. It is estimated that there will be more than one and a half lakh devotees in Sannidhanam alone. Strong security arrangements have been made in the temple premises. There are ten viewpoints to see Makarajyoti.

Ayyappaswamy was anointed with ghee in Nei thenga (ghee-filled coconut) brought from Kowdiar palace. Now Nada will open at 5 pm. At 5:30 p.m., the Thiruvabharan procession will be received ceremonially at Saramkuthy. Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan, Devaswom Board President PS Prashanth, members Adv A Ajikumar and G Sundaresan will receive the Thiruvabharan casket at the foot of the Kodimaram at 6:15 p.m.

Thanthri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru and Melshanti PN Mahesh Namboothiri will receive the casket in front of the shrine and take it to the shrine. There will be Deeparadhana at 6:30 p.m. When the nada is opened after that, the darshan of Ayyappaswamy adored in Thiruvabharanam along with the Makarajyoti in Ponnambalamedu and Makarasamkrama star appearing in the sky.
