Man strikes doctor 18 times with sickle in hospital, former colleague's husband arrested

MUMBAI: The accused, who hacked a doctor 18 times inside a hospital has been arrested. The incident happened at Nashik in Maharashtra. The doctor was attacked by Rajendra More, the husband of his former colleague. The police have caught him.

The incident happened Friday night at a private hospital in Nashik. The accused attacked Dr Kailash Rathi (48), director and critical care specialist of the hospital, with a sickle. The CCTV visuals of this have been released.

The doctor was talking on his phone and was not aware of the man standing next to him and he attacked him without provocation. The accused hacked the doctor on his neck and chest. The doctor has been admitted to the hospital and his condition is stated to be serious.

The police nabbed the accused, who fled from the place after an intensified search. Police said financial dispute is behind the attack. The couple had borrowed Rs 12 lakh from the doctor. A case has been registered against the former employee and her husband based on the complaint filed by the doctor’s wife.
