Two killed in road accident in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two people were killed in an accident that happened at Kulathoor in the capital city. A speeding bike hit a pedestrian at Thamburan Mukku in Kulathoor. The incident happened Monday early morning at 3 am. Al Sajir (20), who was riding the bike and a native of Manacaud, and Suneesh (29), who was crossing the road are the two killed in the accident. Al Aman, who was pillion riding, has been admitted in the medical college hospital with serious injuries.

There are frequent complaints about excessive speeding of youths on bikes in the rural areas of Thiruvananthapuram. The accident happened in the city amidst this. Bikes without number plates are seen going speedily in villages. There are complaints that neither the police nor the motor vehicle department is taking action against them.

Most of them are school children below 18. In order not to identify the vehicles that spread fear on the road, stickers are placed on the number plates and covered with masks. Bike and car stunts are on the rise and they violate rules. Over 100 people have been involved in speeding accidents in the Kattakkada taluk area in the last two months.
