'Married in Mookambika, but...'; Divya Pillai about marriage, current relationship status

Despite making her debut through ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’ in 2012, actress Divya Pillai always relished the label of ‘seasonal actress' by making occasional appearances in superhit movies. Her performance alongside Tovino Thomas in Kala (2021) brought instant fame and put the actress among the talked about names in the industry during that time.

The Malayali actress is now busy promoting her new movie Telugu ‘Thandel’ which will have Naga Chaitanya in the lead role. As part of the promotion, Divya is now seen across interviews in Malayalam online channels.

The actress in one such interview opened up about her previous marriage and the hardships she faced in her life. Divya said she was in a relationship with an Iraqi citizen of British origin for 12 years which ended up in a marriage at Kollur Mookambika temple. Despite the long love life, the marriage seemed to be a rocking ship that soon made the couple take different routes.

Divya Pillai:

“Even my parents attended the ceremony. The marriage was not registered since there had to be many legal hurdles as he was a foreigner. Before completing those works, we decided to split. The fact that the marriage was not registered did not lead to legal problems during the split. So I still don’t whether I was married or not. “

Midway through the interview, Divya also revealed in vague terms about her current relationship.

“I want to keep it a secret until I'm mentally ready to share it with the world. Will tell you when the time is right. I don’t want to lie, yes I am in a relationship. But sorry, I don’t want to reveal that person right now”
