SAO PAULO (BRAZIL): Migrants from India, Nepal and Vietnam are stuck at the airport in Brazil after being denied visas. Hundreds of people are stranded at Guaruluz airport without food or water. It is reported that many were forced to sleep on the floor.

According to the report, those at the airport have been shifted to a different place and they have no facility to take a bath or buy food. They don't even have blankets to protect them from the Brazilian winter. A 39-year-old from Ghana died two weeks ago. The cause of his death is not clear.

The Ministry of Public Security announced that those without a Brazilian visa who are transiting through the country to another destination should go directly to that country or return to their home country. It will come into effect from Monday. According to the authorities, passengers from Asia who are going to North America are landing in Brazil.

It is indicated that the action of the Brazilian government is to stop the flow of foreigners arriving in Brazil as a transit point to Canada and the US. The move towards severe restrictions comes after the Brazilian government discovered that there is an increasing trend of migrants, who say they are facing persecution and threats in their own country, seeking asylum in Brazil and migrating to the United States and Canada.

They enter the US and Canada through the Darien Gap, which connects Colombia and Panama. It was discovered that they were seeking asylum in Brazil so that they would be handed over to Brazil instead of being sent back to their own country if they were caught at the American border. The reform, which will be implemented from Monday, is aimed to prevent this. It is reported that around 600 people, including Indians, were stopped at the airport as part of this.
