WASHINGTON: The United States reportedly suspended its 13-day-long airstrikes on Iran. Donald Trump has reportedly not authorised a new military strike against Iran scheduled for Friday.

The US is reportedly trying to open the way for diplomatic talks without engaging in new hostilities. The decision is also being made based on the assessment that the current attacks have reached their practical limits without engaging in large-scale confrontation. Trump said at the White House that talks are currently underway with Iran. He added that Iran is taking this more seriously and that reaching an agreement would be a wiser decision.

Trump's decision comes after an Omani delegation arrived in Tehran for talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Local media reports that talks are progressing and that an agreement between Oman and Iran is likely to be reached soon.
