THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a change in the rain warning in Kerala. Three districts are on red alert. Red alert has been issued in Idukki, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam. Orange alert has also been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thrissur. The warning says that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours. Yellow alert has been declared in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall tomorrow as well.
A well-marked low pressure area is located over the Gulf of Mannar. The IMD has also informed that it is likely to move towards the south Tamil Nadu coast in the next 24 hours and then weaken. Following this, there is a possibility of light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms in Kerala for the next five days.
