National games: Kerala's 'Gold star' Taufeeq

Alappuzha Mannanchery native Taufeeq became Kerala's first gold medalist in athletics at the Uttarakhand National Games. Taufeeq N won gold for Kerala in the decathlon at the Maharana Pratap Sports Complex in Dehradun.

Kerala won silver and three bronze medals in women's relay and long jump on Sunday. With this, Kerala’s medal tally in athletics has reached nine. NV Sheena, gold medalist at the last national games, will enter the field on Monday.

Silver: 4-100 Women's Relay Team (Sreena Narayanan, Bhavika VS, Mahita Mol AL, Megha S), Sandra Babu (Long Jump).

Bronze: Manu TS (400m hurdles), Muhammad Lasaan (110m hurdles), 4-100 men's relay team (AD Mukundan, Ajith John, Albert James, Manish M), Alka Sunny (fencing).
