NEW DELHI: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced that the UAE carried out executions of Malayalees Muhammad Rinash Arangilot and Muralidharan, who were convicted of murder in the UAE.
The execution was carried out on February 28 after the UAE Supreme Court upheld the death sentence. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that all possible diplomatic assistance was provided for the two Indian nationals, including mercy petitions and pardon applications.
Relatives will be allowed to participate in the posthumous rituals. Earlier, Muhammad Rinash’s mother gave a petition to the chief minister to intervene in the case, claiming that her son accidentally committed murder while trying to escape from the torture of a mentally challenged UAE national.
