Beer drinking barred at hotel; female medical student, friends attack hotel manager with blade

ATHANI: Medical students allegedly attacked a hotel manager with a blade after he stopped them from drinking beer along with their food at a hotel near Keltron Nagar in Athani. The incident took place at Almiya Hotel, owned by Aneesh (38), a native of Vellikulangara in Chennathukad, Desamangalam, on the night of the other day.

According to a complaint filed with the Medical College police by the injured manager, Satheesh (44) of Thalassery, Desamangalam, a three-member group, including a female MBBS student of Thrissur Government Medical College, was involved in the attack.

The group had ordered food and then placed bottles of beer on the table. Satheesh stopped them from drinking beer at the hotel, following which an argument broke out and the students left the premises.

They later returned with a group of eight and allegedly attacked Satheesh. He sustained a deep cut on his right hand in the attack.
The Medical College police have registered a case against the students. The Hotel and Restaurant Association has demanded strict action against those involved in the attack.
