PATHANAMTHITTA: Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar was elected as the CPI Pathanamthitta District Secretary on Saturday. Chittayam Gopakumar’s selection to the post comes amidst intensified sectarianism within the organisation. After being elected as the District Secretary, Chittayam spoke to the media about the heavy responsibility he has been assigned. The deputy speaker kept hope about fulfilling dutifully. Chittayam Gopakumar also clarified that he will solve the ensuing factionalism within the district organisation.
Chittayam Gopakumar has been the MLA from Adoor since 2011.
Meanwhile, AP Jayan, who was removed from the post of district secretary for illegal wealth acquisition, returned to the district committee. After his removal following the allegations, CK Sasidharan from Kottayam was given interim charge of the secretary for more than a year and a half. AP Jayan reacted emotionally to the news of his return to the district committee.
