THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There were no big announcements in the current budget to revive the lottery sector. However, there are some important announcements which will create impacts in the sector. Some notable changes include the setting up of a special cell to take action against illegal lotteries, such as written lotteries, and a sales tracking system to track lottery sales.

All the lottery sales which were stopped due to Covid, will be restored soon. The structure and functioning of lotteries will also be reinstated, said the finance minister. One more ticket is to be launched. The budget also announced better security features in the tickets.

Another significant decision in the lottery sector is the announcement of special training for the lottery winners on the use of large prize money. The training will be provided in consultation with economic experts under the leadership of the department. The second version update of the software used in the lottery department will be completed in a timely manner, said the minister.
