THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government was criticised in the CPI state executive meeting for trying to implement the SilverLine project without considering the concerns of the people. The CPI leadership also criticised the police brutality at Karichara in Kazhakkoottam.

According to the CPI leaders, the police action against the SilverLine protesters was not right. They felt that the incident tarnished the reputation of the state government.

In his reply, Secretary Kanam Rajendran said that the UDF and the BJP were trying to sabotage the government's development plans and caution should be exercised against this political move.

Some leaders also criticised CPM leader EP Jayarajan for inviting the Muslim League to the Left Front soon after taking charge as the LDF convener.

The leaders also criticized the Chief Minister for taking over the Disaster Management Department which was under the Revenue Department. The CPI may discuss the issue with the CPM leadership.

Age limit of 75 years
The state executive also agreed to set an age limit of 75 years for members of the state council as per the directions of the party's national council. The age limit is 65 for district secretaries and 60 for constituency secretaries.
