THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a month of holy fasting, the state celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday, amidst faith and prayers. Believers welcome Eid-ul-Fitr with full-fledged celebrations as the Covid restrictions have been lifted in the state.

The festivities will begin after the distribution of Zakat al-Fitr with the message that no one should remain hungry. The believers will celebrate Eid by wearing new dresses and henna, performing prayers and handing over gifts to their friends and relatives.

Since the crescent moon was not sighted on Monday, all are welcoming Eid-ul-Fitr after completing 30 fasts. According to calendar, Eid holiday was on Monday. However, the festival is celebrated on Tuesday in Kerala as the Shawwal crescent was not sighted last day. The government has declared a public holiday on Tuesday as well.
