NEW DELHI: A meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandav will be convened today to assess the Covid situation in the country. The meeting is called in the wake of a sharp rise in the weekly cases. 60% of the patients are in Kerala and Maharashtra.
12,249 people were diagnosed with the disease in the country yesterday. 13 Covid deaths were also reported. The test positivity rate rose to 3.94 %. The spread of the disease is on the rise in major cities. 1648 people were diagnosed with the disease in Mumbai yesterday. In Bangalore, 676 people were newly diagnosed with the virus and in Chennai, 345 people were newly diagnosed with the virus.
The number of patients is also rising sharply in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. In Delhi, 928 people were diagnosed with the virus in 24 hours. In Kerala, 3886 cases were reported yesterday. Four people died of the infection.
