KOZHIKODE: Violent incidents have been witnessed all over the state in the hartal observed by the Popular Front in protest against the nationwide raid. There was widespread stone pelting at KSRTC buses and lorries at many places. Violent incidents have been reported in the capital city, Kollam, Kozhikode, Kochi, Alappuzha, Kasaragod, Thrissur and Kannur. A KSRTC driver sustained eye injuries in the stone pelting near Kozhikode civil station. He is admitted to Kozhikode Beach Hospital.
Stones were pelted at private vehicles in Kumarichantha, Thiruvananthapuram. The window panes of the car going to the airport and the auto that came with passengers were damaged. Windows of bus and tanker were damaged in Alappuzha. The driver of the lorry was injured in stone pelting in Ambalapuzha.
Stones were pelted at lorries in Vadakara and Wadakkanchery in Kozhikode. A cargo lorry was pelted with stones at Kampala in Kasaragod. A petrol bomb was thrown at a vehicle in Kannur. Shops at Pothencode in Thiruvananthapuram were attacked. Protestors hit cops with a bike at Pallimukku in Kollam.
A petrol bomb was hurled at the BJP office in Chettipudur in Coimbatore. There was no casualty as the bomb did not explode. Protestors who unleashed violence fled the place.
