Nursing student dies in Walayar bike accident

PALAKKAD: A nursing student died on Wednesday after the bike he was travelling crashed into a tree in Walayar Chullimada. Alvin Manoj(20) is the deceased. Alvin is the son of Manoj K. Joseph, a Kanjirappally native who is also the CRPF Assistant Sub-Inspector in Coimbatore Mahalingapuram.

Nagaraj (20), a native of Tamil Nadu, who was alongside Alvin, suffered serious injuries. The accident happened at 5: 30 am on Wednesday morning. Both are students of Elurpiriv NM College of Nursing, Coimbatore.

The accident happened while Alvin was returning to Coimbatore after a brief visit to Manarcad, to visit his bereaved friend who lost his father. There were a total of four people on two bikes. Even, the other bike failed to notice the accident and went far ahead. The injured students were taken to the district hospital by the highway police. By then, Alvin had died. Walayar police registered a case.

After the post-mortem, the body was kept at St. Clotilda's parish church in Pothanur Vellalur, Coimbatore for public viewing and then taken to Kanjirappally at night. The cremation will be held at 3 pm on Thursday at Ponthenpuzha Sacred Heart Church Cemetery.
