Northeast monsoon arrives in Kerala, heavy rains lash Kochi, waterlogging in many places

KOCHI: The northeast monsoon has arrived in the state. Heavy rains lashed Kochi on Sunday. Many places in the district witnessed waterlogging. Shops in M G Road was submerged in water and due to this transportation came to a standstill. There is waterlogging on the inter roads in areas including Kadavanthra and Panampally Nagar.


Meantime, the Central Meteorological Department has informed that in the next three hours there is a possibility of rain with thunder at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam. There is also a possibility of winds to blow at a speed of 40 kmph.


Yellow alert was sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Palakkad today. Yellow alert has also been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki tomorrow.
