THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been lodged against the police for insulting a pregnant woman and her husband during vehicle checking. The incident happened on Tuesday evening near the taluk office in East Fort. The couple from Nedumangad lodged a complaint against the sub inspector of the traffic south unit, on duty in East Fort.

The complainants are Vijith and his wife from Karikuzhi in Nedumangad. The police stopped the two on a two-wheeler when they were about to enter the Manacaud road

from the taluk office. The police told them that it was one-way and asked them to pay a fine of Rs 1000 for violating law.

Vijith immediately told him that he didn’t know that it was one-way. As he did not have money in his hand, he informed to pay it in court. However, the police did not allow that and made the two stand there, the complaint said.

Vijith in his complaint said that even after telling police that his wife is pregnant, they did not allow them to leave. The complaint pointed that the police insulted them by questioning his wife’s attire and makeup. The couple have sent an e-mail to the chief minister and DGP against the inspector for misbehaving with them.
