NEW DELHI: Although there is plenty of time left for the 2027 ODI World Cup, the discussion over team selection has already made it a hot topic. Many experts made their predictions about the final team that will appear for the World Cup. Former Indian player Aakash Chopra gave 9 out of 10 marks to the World Cup team suggested by Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar.
While some prominent players made it to the team suggested by Gavaskar, many young players and superstars were left out. Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are the main players in Gavaskar's batting line-up. Gavaskar made a selection similar to the team that played for India in the Champions Trophy.
Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja have also been included in the team. However, it is noteworthy that Sanju Samson, who led India to victory in the last Twenty20 World Cup, found no place in Gavaskar's team. There is widespread criticism that Sanju has been neglected in subsequent matches despite his good performance. Gavaskar also ignored Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who sparkled in the IPL before making his national debut last month.
Gavaskar suggested Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh in the bowling line-up. Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have also not been considered for the bowling line-up.
