ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the immediate transfer of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to a private hospital for treatment. The court's order comes amid reports that Imran Khan's health condition in a Pakistani jail is deteriorating. Rejecting the government's objection, the court ordered Khan to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours.

Imran Khan will undergo treatment there until September 16. A medical board will also be formed to assess Khan's health condition. Imran Khan's sister, Dr Aleema Khan, will also be included in the board. Relatives have constantly complained of not receiving any information about Imran Khan's health condition in prison. Imran Khan, who is accused in several cases, including corruption allegations, has been in Adiala Jail since 2023. Leaders of his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have alleged that even Khan’s close family is not being allowed entry to the jail complex to meet him.
