KYIV: A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine’s SBU security service in central Kyiv on Friday, injuring at least seven people, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said. The drone hit the SBU’s central building on Volodymyrska Street, across from St Sophia Cathedral, Zelenskiy said. Heavy black smoke was seen rising from the site following the attack.

Zelenskiy said the drone was aimed directly at the office of acting SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad. He said he spoke with Poklad after the attack and instructed him to prepare a response.

The attack came as Kyiv continued to face Russian air strikes. The Ukrainian capital has been subjected to attacks for 10 consecutive days. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko initially said five people had been injured in the attack but latest reports indicate that at least seven people were injured.
