WASHINGTON: The United States has once again intensified its attacks on Iran. Strikes were carried out in several areas near the Strait of Hormuz. In Sirik, southern Iran, four people were killed after an American missile attack shrapnel struck a home where wedding celebrations were taking place. A child is among those killed. Around 50 people were also injured.
The US Central Command said the strikes were carried out in response to Iranian attacks targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and US military personnel in the region. The US also stated that civilians were not targeted. US President Donald Trump had earlier warned that America would launch powerful attacks in response to Iran’s failed attempt to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
In retaliation for the US attacks, Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. The Jordanian military said it had intercepted 10 ballistic missiles fired by Iran. Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned that the US would be given an ‘unforgettable lesson’. Iran also said it would respond forcefully to any further attacks.
Amid the possibility of further attacks, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued a security warning to the public. The ministry urged citizens and residents to remain calm and move to nearby safe locations. It also advised people to follow only information released through official channels to ensure public safety, said a post on X.
