Iran launches missile attack on Israel, defense forces retaliate

TEL AVIV: Iran has responded strongly to Israel's attack on Lebanon. Iran fired 10 ballistic missiles at northern Israel. Iran had warned of a strong response to the attack in Lebanon on Sunday. Meanwhile, Israel has retaliated strongly against the Iranian attack.

The Israeli defense forces informed that they had launched a strong attack on central and western Iran. According to information provided by the Iranian national media Mehr News, loud explosions were heard in the capital Tehran and other cities such as Tabriz and Isfahan. It is not clear how much damage was caused.

This is the first direct attack by Iran on Israel since the ceasefire was imposed in April. It is reported that Iran has also launched attacks on Iraq. Meantime, Iran claimed that it has attacked terrorist sites. The missile attack took place in northern Iraq. Iran says the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has carried out an attack on the Kurdish region of Sulaymaniyah in Iraq.

Israel has responded by calling Iran's actions a big mistake. US President Donald Trump has urged Israel not to retaliate against Iran. The attack came amid heightened tensions.
