Khalifa announcement: Actress all set for Mollywood return after 15 years

Makers of the Prithviraj movie ‘Khalifa’ released the character poster of Noor Jahan, thus announcing the return of yesteryear actress Mohini to Mollywood after 15 years. Mohini will play the role of Prithviraj's mother. Mohini last acted in Suresh Gopi's film ‘Collector’ in 2011.

Thanjavur native Mahalakshmi Sreenivasan became Mohini after entering the film industry. Mohini was one among the most sought-after actresses in the 90s and had paired opposite Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, Jayaram, Mukesh, and many other stars. Notable films include Naadodi, Punjabi House, Parinayam, Mayaponman, Ullasapoonkattu, Vesham, and Ghazal.

She has also acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and other languages. Mohini made her debut as a heroine with the Tamil film 'Eeramaana Rojave' and went on to act in more than 100 films in 8 years. Not many people in Malayalam cinema knew that she married Bharath, a Palakkad resident and a US businessman, and moved to America.

Mohini, in a recent interview, revealed that she had attempted suicide seven times. Currently, the actress lives in the US with her husband and two sons. Mohini has now embraced Christianity and also adopted the name Christina.
