Actor Chippy has made her return to the big screen after a gap of 25 years with Thudakkam, the directorial venture of Jude Anthany Joseph that released in theatres on Friday. The film also marks the acting debut of Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of superstar Mohanlal.
Once a prominent face in Malayalam cinema, Chippy appeared in several memorable roles, including Mohanlal's sister in the 1995 blockbuster Spadikam. Fans have been quick to point out the full-circle moment, with the actor now sharing screen space with Mohanlal's daughter in her first film. In Thudakkam, Chippy plays the mother of Vismaya's character.
Although Chippy stepped away from films after her marriage, she remained active on Malayalam television. Her last big-screen appearance was in the 2000 film Kattu Vannu Vilichappol.
Expressing her happiness over the comeback, Chippy shared on Instagram: "Did a film after 25 years. Thank you so much, Aashirvad Cinemas, Jude Anthany Joseph, Antony Perumbavoor and Suchithra for Thudakkam. In theatres from today! My best wishes to Vismaya Mohanlal and Aashish Joe Antony."
Ahead of the film's release, Chippy's appearance as Vismaya's on-screen mother in the song Thaliromale had already drawn attention among moviegoers.
Thudakkam has opened to a positive response from audiences. The film also features Aashish Joe Antony, son of producer Antony Perumbavoor, in a negative role, while Sai Kumar appears in another key role.
