NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has transferred all data related to the evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets from the servers of private company Coempt to servers directly controlled by the board.

The move comes amid widespread complaints regarding the newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. However, despite the controversy, CBSE has decided to continue using Coempt's services for scanning answer sheets during the re-evaluation process.

According to CBSE, there were no major errors in the answer-sheet scanning carried out by Coempt. Of the nearly 40 crore pages scanned, issues were identified in around 30,000 pages. The board said complaints were reported at a rate of roughly one page per 10,000 scanned pages. For the re-evaluation process, only the pages with reported issues will need to be scanned again. CBSE believes Coempt can handle this task without any problems.

The scanned copies of answer sheets and related data that were stored on Coempt's servers have now been transferred to CBSE's own servers. The board also modified the OSM software code to facilitate the transfer, which was completed with assistance from Coempt employees.

Re-evaluation applications open until today
CBSE will accept applications for Class 12 answer-sheet verification and re-evaluation through its dedicated portal until midnight today. The board had earlier extended the deadline by one day, considering technical issues reported on the website. The portal became operational on June 2.
