Clash during Hanuman Jayanti procession in Delhi, police personnel injured by stone-pelting

NEW DELHI: Violence breaks out at Jahangirpuri in north-west Delhi due to stone pelting on Hanuman Jayanti procession. The people on different sides of road attacked each other. It is learned that stones were hurled at the procession which continued till 6 pm. Several people including two police officers were injured during the clash and stone-pelting. Some vehicles were also damaged. With the help of the Rapid Action Force the situation was brought under control by the Delhi police.

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said the situation is under control and adequate additional force has been deployed in Jahangirpuri and other sensitive areas.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to the Commissioner of Police and higher officials and enquired about the situation.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people to maintain peace and order. The injured were admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in Jahangirpuri.
