KOCHI: India is expected to maintain strong economic growth even as the global economy slows down, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is projected to grow by 7 per cent in the current financial year, up from the earlier estimate of 6.4 per cent.
Strong domestic demand and the performance of the services sector are expected to drive India's growth. The IMF's World Economic Outlook report also highlighted the expanding domestic market and continued economic reforms as key factors supporting the country's economy.
The IMF has also raised India's growth forecast for 2027-28 from 6.7 per cent to 7 per cent. The report further projects India's average consumer price inflation at 5 per cent in the current financial year.
The IMF estimates that the global economic growth rate will decline to 3.1 percent. In 2025, global growth was 3.5 percent.
