JAIPUR: An investigation has been launched against senior IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal over allegations that he received illegal payments from a private hotel company. He is accused of using the money received as bribes for granting undue favours to the company to purchase luxury villas in the names of his family members.
The complaint alleges that Agrawal extended government benefits to Goyal Fashions Private Limited, which operates resorts under the Ananta brand, in violation of construction rules. Agarwall and his family members are accused of purchasing 36 villas, including 20 in Bujhda in Udaipur and 16 in Ajabgarh in Alwar. The villas were allegedly purchased for around Rs 5.52 crore.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) found that the Finance Department granted special financial concessions to the company on March 27, 2026. On the same day, 20 villas were registered in the names of the officer's family members. Of these, 10 villas were registered in Agrawal's name and the remaining 10 in the name of his wife, Prashakha Mathur, an IPS officer. The government has granted permission for a detailed investigation under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
