High drama during TMC protest rally in Kolkata; Mamata Banerjee slaps TMC worker

KOLKATA: Dramatic incidents took place during a Trinamool Congress protest rally in Kolkata as TMC leader Mamata Banerjee ended up slapping her own party worker in the face. Footage of Mamata slapping a worker in the face emerged. The Trinamool Congress rally was held to protest the brutal rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Baruipur.

A large crowd gathered near Mamata Banerjee's house when the protest march reached here. Mamata herself went out to control the people and, in the meantime, slapped a worker from her own party in the face. It is reported that she slapped a worker who was trying to clear the way for Mamata. Meanwhile, BJP workers tried to stop the protest march, which was organised with the permission of the High Court, leading to clashes.

Following the incident, Mamata came out with a strong criticism against the Kolkata Police. Mamata alleged that the police were behaving like BJP workers and were standing by as spectators during violence. However, BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya denied the allegations. He accused the Trinamool Congress of breaking the trust of the people and continuing the tradition of violent politics.
